In the late ’60-es, Victor Ciato gave up the painting following the academic dogma and the representations of the socialist realism. During those years, Ciato’s creation evolved in the direction of an abstract gestualism and then, in the ’70-es, of a geometrized abstractionism.

Ciato also greatly contributed to the training of new generations of artists, teaching at The University of Art and Design ”Ion Andreescu” in Cluj, Romania, between 1964 and 2008.
